If you would like your club meetings, workshops, coffee mornings or any other needleart related event added to this diary, please email me at info@patchworkrabbit.com. I'd like to make this diary as comprehensive as possible and want to include all events, no matter how small!

Tutors and teachers; looking for more students? Get your list of classes and workshops out to a wider audience! Groups; looking for more members? We'll post the details of your exhibition or meetings here!

NOTE: Where you see (at) in an email address, replace it with @. This helps protect the owner of the email address from mountains of spam. For example, somename(at)hotmail.com would become somename@hotmail.com.

Anne Walker Workshops

Anne taught me how to quilt (I'm not going to tell you how many years ago!) and I love her friendly, easy-going and supportive manner. She has an encyclopedic knowledge of the subject and you'll leave her class feeling enthused and inspired!

Anne's workshops are held on the same days as the Woodmansterne market days, from 10am to 4:30pm. Please book in advance by contacting Chris at Turning Point at tpfabric@btinternet.com or on 01737 551 760. All classes are £25.

If you would like to see pictures of the quilts, Chris will be happy to post or email them to you.

9th February 2008 - Circling Birds Foundation Piecing
A wallhanging with eight diamonds that are created using precise foundation piecing and scraps of fabric. This project would be ideal for creating your own colourwheel!
8th March 2008 - Twist & Turn
Use ready pieced blocks or pretty panels to create a quilt with blocks dancing across the surface.
5th April 2008 - Rotary Cutting Sampler
An opportunity to learn or improve your rotary cutting skills and piece perfect mini blocks, including chains, 4 and 9 patches, bow ties and stars. Create a wallhanging or small quilt.
17th May 2008 - Ladder to the Stars Scrap Quilt

14th June 2008 - Tesselating Pinwheels
As a technique to be included in a rotary cutting toolbag.

Sheena Salmon workshops

I've done several of Sheena's workshops and can't recommend them highly enough. I'm constantly amazed by what this woman can accomplish with a needle and thread.

Her workshops run from 10:30 - 4:00 (I believe they are held at her home in Dorking) and cost £20. You can contact her directly to book on 01306 885597. You will need to bring a packed lunch, but she provides tea, coffee, hot water and delicious brownies!

21st January 2008 (Monday) - Machine quilting
Gain confidence on your own machine with straight stitch quilting, free machine quilting and trying out different threads. For those who have done a little, why not improve by working on her newly designed cushion top with a machine Trapunto centre?
28th January 2008 (Monday) - Chenille bags
You now have a choice of three designs:

1. a shoulder bag with flap and magnetic catch and zipped inner pocket OR
2. a smaller stiffened bag with cord handles and beaded bobbles OR
3. a rag quilted bag with chenille panels, finished 14" square.

Zips, catches and finishes available in class.
4th February 2008 (Monday) - Machine Applique
Get to grips with satin stitch, blindstitch and blanket stitch applique. Try out different threads to see which suit your machine. If you have done some before, perhaps you would like to work on a PhD piece (Project half Done!) using her threads as opposed to her cupboard...
10th March 2008 (Monday) - Begin Beading!
Work a beaded button in Peyote stitch for a shoulder bag, jacket or whatever. Wooden button moulds available in class OR work a beaded tassel or both in the day perhaps.
17th March 2008 (Monday) - Faux Chenille Day
Learn the technique and colour combinations by making samples. The technique is suitable for cushions, gilets, jackets and bags. After lunch, make a Rag quilted bag with your samples or a cushion top. Please order the jacket pattern (£5) when booking, if you want it.
